About PSAT Test
We are delighted to bring to you The Princeton Review PSAT course in India. After training more than 12000 students for the SAT and emerging as the most successful SAT preparation company in the country, we are now ready to enhance and ease students’ SAT preparation process by introducing PSAT courses that build the test-taking skills needed for tests such as the SAT from a younger age and thus facilitate better performances on the SAT. Students should take PSAT preparation ideally in Grades VIII and IX and take the test ideally in Grade IX.
PSAT stands for Preliminary SAT. It’s a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test™. Some of the common reasons for taking this test are:
- To enable students to receive feedback on their strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study. They can then focus their preparation on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice.
- To see how students’ performances on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college.
- To help prepare for the SAT.
What specifically does the PSAT Test?
Similar to the SAT, the PSAT has three sections that cover Math, Critical Reading, and Writing. However, it is shorter than the SAT taking (a mere) 2 hours and 10 minutes.
Math:
- Multiple–choice questions, grid–in questions
- Two sections of 25 minutes each
- Some higher level math problems; no quantitative comparisons
Critical Reading:
- Multiple–choice questions
- Two sections of 25 minutes each
Writing:
- Multiple–choice questions
- 30–minute section
How is the PSAT scored?
Its three sections: Critical Reading, Math and Writing are each worth 20 to 80 points.
